Workshop on Graded Algebra and Geometry

Venue & info

The conference will be held at Campus Kirchberg of the University of Luxembourg. Lectures will take place in different rooms, either in the "A" or the "B" block of the main building, see the plan of the campus.

The classroom of each talk is specified in the schedule. All classrooms are equipped with blackboards, a projector (for computers) and an overhead projector.

Registration (Wednesday from 9:00 to 9:30) will be held in room A12 (block A, first floor).

How to reach the Campus Kirchberg

Travel

By plane

Luxembourg airport is connected by regular flights to all main destinations. The Bus line 16 takes you quickly to the campus (bus stop "Coudenhove-Kalergi") or to the center (bus stop "Royal").

A regular bus service connects the train station to the Frankfurt-Hahn airport (Germany) and to the Brussels(South)-Charleroi Airport (Belguim), which are served by low-cost flights to many European destinations.

By train

See the websites of the Luxembourg rail company CFL, or SNCF, or Deutsche Bahn. Many bus lines take you directly to the campus: e.g. lines 1 and 16, bus stop "Coudenhove-Kalergi" or line 18, bus stop "Université - Campus Kirchberg".

By car

The participants who come by car and have informed the organisers, can use the parking spaces which are usually restricted to the staff of the University of Luxembourg (see the plan of the campus). To raise the barrier, it suffices to give your name.

Nevertheless, we have to note that these parkings are very small and usually full, and there is no other free parking space near the campus. We hence suggest you to leave the car at your hotel and come by bus.

Accomodation

A list of hotels in Luxembourg is available here. There is also a youth hostel.

Speakers, as well as some participants receiving financial support, will be lodged at Hotel Golden Tulip Central Molitor or at the Best Western Victor Hugo. These hotels are not far from the city center, which can be easily reached by walk. See section "public transport" for the bus stops near these hotels.

Daily transport

Public transport in Luxembourg is very efficient, and often preferable to car when moving within the city. A ticket cost 1,50 € and can be paid directly to the driver. With one ticket you can use all the busses as well as trains inside luxembourg, with only a 2 hours time limit.

As already mentioned above, you can reach Campus Kirchberg with the following busses:

n° 1 (direction: Luxexpo) and n° 16 (direction: Aéroport Luxembourg/Findel):
these have almost all the same stops. They go from the train station (bus stop "Gare Centrale"), pass through the city center (bus stop "Royal - quai 1") and the campus Kirchberg (stop "Coudenhove-Kalergi"); same route in the other direction.
n° 18 (direction: Kirchberg, John-F.-Kennedy):
goes from the train station ("Gare Centrale"), pass trough the city centre ("Hamilius") and to the campus Kirchberg ("Université - Campus Kirchberg"); same route in the other direction.

All these busses have a stop near the Hotel Golden Tulip Central Molitor (bus stop "Place de Paris"), and not far from the hotel Best Western Victor Hugo (bus stop "Fondation Pescatore").
