This is an outstanding result for a small country such as Luxembourg: Tara's score was higher than that of all the contestants sent by much larger countries such as Belarus, Belgium, Finland, Italy, the Netherlands, and Norway.
The medal cutoffs were 11 for bronze, 20 for silver and 26 for gold. The first problem of the first day was proposed by Pierre Haas, the leader of the Luxembourg delegation.

This excellent result places Luxembourg at 20th place among 29 participating teams, ahead of countries such as Belgium, Finland, and Norway, although these countries sent a full team of four contestants to the olympiad.
The contest papers were very difficult, and their difficulty was mirrored by the rather low medal cutoffs: 7 marks for bronze, 16 for silver, and 24 for gold.
