Team MIDAS Meeting with Emmanuel Mayonnade

Science meets Sports - more and more in person. This week Team MIDAS had a great exchange with Emmanuel Mayonnade, head coach of Metz Handball, one of the strongest female teams in Europe!

Working in the domain of sports analytics is already a lot of fun when you like sports. This feeling is boosted further when you get the chance to discuss your ideas with such an inspiring person.

Florian Felice, Senthil Murugan Nagarajan and Sophia Loizidou, together with Christophe Ley had the privilege (thanks to Florian) to have an exciting discussion with Emmanuel, whose open, friendly, and scientific mindset has impressed the team.

They presented their work, and using his renowned expertise, understood the usefulness and validity of their methods. This also led to numerous ideas for research directions in sports (at least in handball).

A true interdisciplinary collaboration - moreover in the dedicated room of the Institute for Advanced Studies (IAS).

We eagerly anticipate discovering where this thrilling collaboration will lead both the Metz handball team and our MIDAS research team!
